At Shop4Canadians Inc. we understand that you care how information about you is collected, used and shared.  This Privacy Policy describes information we may collect about you directly or indirectly, how and why we may collect, use and share your information, and the choices you have regarding your information.  As more fully described below, we collect, use and share your information to better serve you and to improve our own business processes.  By using our website, mobile applications, buying products or services through our website, participating in our promotions and events, or by providing information to us in other ways, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

The purpose of this privacy policy (this “Privacy Policy”) is to inform users of our Site of the following:

  2. Use of collected data;
  3. Who has access to the data collected;

GDPR

For users of the European Union, we adhere to the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council fo 27 April 2016, known as the General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”).  For users in the United Kingdom, we adhere to. The GDPR as enshrined in the Data Protection Act 2018.

We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer as we do not fall within the categories of controllers and processors required to appoint a Data Protection Officer under Article 37 of the GDPR.

 

What information Shop4Canadians Inc. gathers and tracks:

We gather two types of information about users:

  1. Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions.  These are voluntary submissions to receive notices, to participate in promotions or to participate in surveys.
  2. Information Shop4Canadians Inc. gathers through aggregated tracking information derived mainly by tallying page views throughout our site.  This information allows us to better tailor our content to users’ needs and to help our advertisers and vendors better understand the demographics of our audience.

WHAT DO WE DO WITH YOUR INFORMATION?

  • When you purchase something from our site, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as as your name, address and email address.
  • When you browse our site, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system.
  • Email marketing (if applicable) with your permission, we may send you emails about our site, new products, special promotions and other updates.
  • Under no circumstance does Shop4Canadians Inc. divulge any information about an individual user to any third-party, except to comply with applicable law or valid legal process or to protect the personal safety of our users and the public.

How Long We Store Personal Data

How We Protect Your Personal Data

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

In order to protect your security, we use the strongest available browser encryption and store all of our data on servers in secure facilities.  All data is only accessible to our employees.  Our employees are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and a breach of this agreement would result in the employee’s termination.

While we take all reasonable precautions to ensure that user data is secure and that users are protected, there always remains the risk of harm.   The Internet as a whole can be insecure at times and therefore we are unable to guarantee the security of user data beyond what is reasonably practical.

If you provide us with your credit card information, the information is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption.  Although no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, we follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

Children

The minimum age to use our website is 18, or the age of majority in the province in which the user resides.  We do not knowingly collect or use personal data from children under 16 years of age.  If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 16 years of age, the personal data will be deleted as soon as possible.  If a child under 16 years of age has provided us with personal data their parent or guardian may contact our privacy officer.

Do Not Track Notice

Do Not Track (“DNT”) is a privacy preference that you can set in certain web browsers.  We do not track the users of our Site over time and across third party websites and therefore do not respond to browser-initiated DNT signals.

Payment Processing Providers

  • In you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Paypal Commerce stores your credit card and payment data.  It is encrypted through the Payment card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).  Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction.  After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.
  • All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American express and Discover.
  • PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our site and its service providers.

Third Party Services

  • In general, the third-party providers used by us will only collect, use and disclose your information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.
  • However, certain third-party service providers, such as payment gateways and other payment transaction processors, have their own privacy policies in respect to the information we are required to provide to them for your purchase related transaction.
